Originating in Kent he now lives in Norfolk and has travelled extensively in search of his subjects. He is a member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists, the International Society of Marine Painters and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
 

He has served on the council and all committees of the RSMA and is part author of the book “A Celebration of Marine Art. 50 years of the RSMA”.

He has had 40 solo exhibitions to his credit, has won the Hunting Group Award and has many paintings reproduced as prints, greetings cards and calendars.

Ill-health now confines his output to the writing of a much anticipated manual of painting techniques.
