Matthew was born in Upminster, Essex in 1960. He became a full-time
professional artist after a career in journalism and public
relations, and has been based in Suffolk since 1982.
The East Cost features prominently in the pastel landscapes and portraits which form a large part of his work. His distinctive style is typified by vigorous use of light and colour to capture the mood and character of a subject.
Matthew's paintings have been reproduced as limited edition prints. His work has been featured regularly in exhibitions at the Garden Gallery in Southwold. His work has also been chosen for exhibition in the annual Laing Landscape competition. |
