KATE BATCHELOR

Kate was born in 1961 and grew up in rural East Suffolk from a family with strong links to fishing and farming. It is from here that she derives most of her inspiration.

After leaving High School she studied an Art Foundation at Lowestoft School of Art and then did a three year Wildlife Illustration Course at Dyfed College of Art, Carmarthen, West Wales.

Kate returned to Suffolk after completing her course and worked as a freelance illustrator. Her customers have included The Medici Society; English Nature; BT.; Suffolk County Council; Suffolk Coastal District Council; The Wildlife Trusts; John Chambers Wildflower seeds; Anglian Water and various national magazines.

Over the past ten years Kate has dedicated all of her time to acrylic painting. Her inspiration comes from the ever-changing coast and its wildlife as well as traditionally built local fishing boats.

Kate is a gallery artist at Sea Pictures Gallery, Clare, Suffolk; Buckenham Galleries in Southwold, Abel Arts in Raveningham and the Chimney Mill Gallery in West Stow.

Her work is in many collections in the UK, Ireland, Australia and Canada.
